Enhanced Capital Allowances

Enhanced Capital Allowances (ECAs) enable a business to claim 100% first-year capital allowances on their spending on qualifying plant and machinery. There are three schemes for ECAs:

  • Energy-saving plant and machinery
  • Low carbon dioxide emission cars and natural gas and hydrogen refueling infrastructure
  • Water conservation plant and machinery

Businesses can write off the whole of the capital cost of their investment in these technologies against their taxable profits of the period during which they make the investment.
This can deliver a helpful cash flow boost and a shortened payback period

F-Gas - Are You Ready?

Aircon Chill is in the front line of a new battle to clean up the UK industry and stop fluorinated gases, covered by the Kyoto Protocol, leaking into the atmosphere from faulty or ill-maintained Air Conditioning and Refrigeration equipment.

New European Union Laws that hit Britain on July 4th 2007 will force companies and other organisations with Air Conditioning or Refrigeration plant into a tough new regime of equipment care. While no exact levels of fines have yet been set for abuse, the F-gas regulation will be stringently policed and persistent offenders face heavy penalties.

All Aircon Chill engineers are trained to the required standard to meet the requirements of the legislation in order to help companies properly maintain their equipment and stay within the law. Aircon Chill has introduced a system to assist companies in meeting the demands for adequate labeling and record-keeping required by the new law.

Aircon Chill recognises that many UK businesses are unaware that this new regulation is about to be enforced. Aircon Chill is now in the process of contacting it's clients to inform them that F-gas comes into force on July 4th 2007 - and the major implications this holds for their business.

Companies must have equipment containing these refrigerants regularly maintained. All relevant plant must be clearly labeled and comprehensive records kept. Records must be available for inspection by enforcement officers. The 'Aircon Chill Aftercare' maintenance package will provide a comprehensive solution.

This whole issue of climate change and working towards the Government’s zero emissions targets is too important not to be taken seriously. Companies need clear, independent guidance on what the legislation actually requires. The regulators would prefer to educate businesses and get them to buy into the vision. In doing this they hope to highlight the benefits that saving energy will have a dramatic impact for businesses performance and bottom line.
